Soggy July Evening

July 9th, 2008 · 8 Comments

It’s been pouring with rain fairly solidly for last 3 days but perversely I had to go down to the plot this evening to do some watering. That’s the trouble of having some crops under cover.

Poppies

The plot looked satisfyingly lush and the seed heads were majestic.

I left absolutely soaked but satisfied with my first picking of tomatoes and a healthy bag of runner beans.

Lovely pics, I think that things look great after the rain, there is a lovely sheen to the green. I know that we are down on the weather, and it frustrates me lots when my time is limited anyway.
But now I’m thinking we should celebrate wet days when you can’t do any gardening by taking beautiful rain inspired photographs. Perhaps we should have wet weekend galleries (a bit like the green leaf thing that a lot of people got into recently)

    Your plot looks wonderful.
I am so fed up with this rain we are having - and my tomatoes are no where near picking - :(
    Regards

I’m picking French beans but my tomatoes are nowhere near ripening, even those undercover.
I see your plastic greenhouse has survived the season so far!

The plastic greenhouse is still standing but it has quite a number of plasters all over it.

I have plans for a major bodge job that should render the plastic unnecessary. DIY post to come.

Hello, I’m afraid I’ve tagged you, have a look at my blog! Hope you haven’t done it already. The allotment is looking fantastic.

Well even if it rains, I also took the effort to travel to my plot of farm to make everything is ok. There’s nothing much better to have that sense of relief.
